Woodville ISD will join 1,025 school districts throughout Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month.  The task of educating more than 5.4 million Texas students can seem overwhelming.  The idea that these young minds rely on us to provide what they need to succeed in their ever-unfolding future can feel insurmountable.  Educating children is a complex, demanding responsibility; ensuring that schools are available, qualified teachers are in place, buildings are safe and resources are provided.

School board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. They serve as a link between the community and classroom. Their goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district.  Our school board members are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult decisions for the district, its employees and its children.  It means committing to the time it takes to do the job right; there are training requirements, creating further demands on their time and in Texas there is no pay for school board members.  Why would anyone volunteer for this role? Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do.

Woodville ISD board members currently serving are: Board President Jimmy Tucker has served since November 2010; Vice-President Brett Smith has served since November 2011, Board Secretary John Wilson has served since November 2016, Board Member Josh McClure has served since November 2016, Board Member Richard Shaw Jr. has served since November 2015, Board Member Bryan Shirley has served since November 2018, and Board Member Greg Stewart has served since November 2018.

Please take a moment and thank our school board members for caring about our children and giving so much to our community. Let them know we support them and that their dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated.
