Student of the Week for May 6-10, 2019 WHS is proud to honor Junior Hannah Daily as our Student of the Week for May 6-10th. Hannah is a quiet but amazing leader around our campus. She always has a positive outlook on things, whatever the task may be and she gives 100% in all that she does. She is dependable, helpful to others and has a grateful heart. She is very involved in our FFA program here at WHS where she is FFA Chapter President and the McGee Bend District FFA Secretary. During the year she exhibits Brahman heifers, steers, market swine, market goats, and market lambs, which requires lots of work and hours of dedication. Hannah is also class Historian, a member of our WHS Student Council, and a member of Interact Club. She balances all of this while maintaining her rank as top ten percent in her class. Student of the Week for March 18-22 WHS is proud to honor Freshman Jordyn Williams as our Student of the Week for March 18-22. Freshman teachers say Jordyn works extremely hard and is one of the best academic students in the Freshman class. WHS is proud to Honor Senior Kobe Adams as our Student of the Week for February 4-8, 2019! Many of us have watched Kobe grow from a typical Freshman student to a respected young man in his four years here at WHS. Kobe brings his positive attitude and infectious smile to all those he comes in contact with each and everyday. On a typical day, you can find Kobe going out of his way to help fellow classmates and teachers, trying to bring a smile to every face he sees, all while working hard to accomplish whatever the task at hand. Kobe has an excellent character and is always respectful to those he's around. Kobe has represented WHS in our community by being involved in Student Council and he has also been an important factor in our Eagle Athletics program. Kobe has represented the Eagles by playing Football, Basketball and running Track for all four years of his high school career. If the girls win tonight they will lock up the District Championship and the boys are a game above P. Central for a playoff spot so it's a big one for both. Let's try to pack the gym out for the guys and girls who have been working hard. Although Ahmyria Staten is a new student to our Woodville High School campus, that has not stopped her from being a strong leader in the classroom. Ahmyria has worked extremely hard in all her classes, making excellent grades and shows all of her teachers a very strong work ethic each and everyday. Our Student Council started the 2018 holiday season with a bang. Our annual canned food drive collected 1506 cans, from the community. Without the help of our great students, faculty and community none of this would’ve been possible. It should be noted that all donations were given to the Caring is Sharing program who stated, “This is a record high number and you should be very proud of all of those involved in the WHS Student Council Organization.” --Hallee Hughes
December Employee of the Month, Belinda Williams!! Belinda gives 100% to this district, the students, and our campus staff. She always has a smile on her face, a positive attitude, and she is always willing to help! This week WHS is proud to honor Freshman Ke'Sean Paire. Ke'Sean can be seen around our campus with a positive attitude and a greeting for all he comes in contact with. Ke'Sean is respectful to both adults and peers alike and he never hesitates to help a classmate he sees struggling. Ke'Sean is Freshman Class President, an Athletic Trainer, competes in UIL, and is a member of our Student Council. Outside of school Ke'Sean is a member of the First Baptist Youth Choir and he also proudly represents Woodville on the Hot Wheels Wheelchair Basketball Team out of Houston, where he travels around the country competing against athletes from around the nation. Sophomore Carlos Hernandez has had a great year so far at WHS and we are very proud to recognize his hard work. Carlos has been striving to improve his grades this year as well as displaying a positive and respectful attitude to those around him. Carlos has gone above and beyond to help his classmate who has been transitioning to life in the US. Carlos goes out of his way each day to help him with his classwork and social skills, all without attention or acclaim from anyone but just out of the kindness of his heart. Carlos has really stepped up in his class participation and in his academic focus this school year, all while working outside of school after hours. Woodville FFA participated in the McGee Bend District Leadership Development Events! We ended the day with seventh place in FFA broadcasting, third place Senior FFA Creed Speaking, second place and advancing to the Area IX Contest was Agricultural Issues Forum, and lastly fourth place in Senior Agriculture Quiz with fifth high point individual overall!

Mrs. Wilson received 2 outstanding nominations who both praised her efforts and willingness to help. Ms. Wilson exemplifies a wonderful attitude that encourages others and has a positive outlook on every situation. Mrs. Wilson puts immense extra time into coordinating committee activities, training presentations, and serving as a mentor teacher. Student of the Week for October 15-19th: When you think of the best of Woodville High School, you think of Carrington Merendes. Carrington is the perfect example of character, excellence and work ethic. Carrington has never let the fact that he is in a wheelchair slow him down for even a second, in fact, it is his motivator. He is always the first to volunteer for any tasks or jobs around him! He has represented our school in so much...Just a few to mention are the State Track Meet, on the Sidelines during Friday Night Football, years in the WHS band, he was a signal of hope during the bus crash years ago and most recently for his wheelchair basketball team. Carrington spends his time outside of school traveling around the country with the Memorial Herman Wheelchair Basketball Team out of Houston, where he has recently won a National Championship & was named MVP! Carrington just committed to play Wheelchair Basketball for the University of Texas in Arlington where he will receive a full ride! Week: September 17-21 Our first ever Student of the Week for the Week of September 17-21, 2018 is Junior Raymond Rigsby. Raymond has an excellent attitude and has gone above and beyond in class. He completes his work on time and is always willing to help those who might need it. Raymond often responds during class discussions and always has the best manners. Raymond was nominated by Teacher Janay Wigley. We are so proud to honor Raymond for being such a great student & a leader on our campus!
Information About Our WHS Student of the Week: Woodville High School will start a new tradition this year of recognizing a deserving student each week. These students can be any grade Freshman through Seniors. They have been nominated by Faculty and Staff and have been voted on by a Committee of Teachers...Student of the Week Committee Members are: Kerri Reagan, Earl Bryan, Cindi Cooley, Kim Smith, Andrea Wilson & Staci Kircheiner. Lady Eagles with the win!! The girls battled at home against a very competitive 4A LCM Lady Bears. We fought back from a 6 point deficit in the 5th game to win by 2 (17-15). The girls showed grit and determination and pushed through exhaustion to finish the game with a win. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on the exciting game last night. Home game on Friday against Kelly, varsity starting at 4:30 with JV and 9th to follow.
High School Arrival Schedule All students should report to school at 7:50am August 16, 17 and 20. All students will report to first period at that time. Beginning August 21, only bus riders and students needing an early drop off will report at 7:50am to their assigned zero period. All other students should report to their regular first period class at 8:20.
Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, Woodville ISD will require that students only use clear or mesh backpacks. This policy will be enforced district wide, grades pre-K through 12th. The clear or mesh backpack policy only pertains to the backpack itself. Contents inside the backpack such as pencil boxes, notebooks, glasses cases, and pouches for makeup or other personal belongings are still permitted.
The upcoming baseball camp has been cancelled. For anyone who has already signed up and paid, your money will be refunded.

Carlton Driving School will hold a drivers ed. class at Woodville Middle School beginning June 18, 2018. Classes will be 2 hours, Monday-Thursday for 17 days. First class day will meet in the lobby of the Middle School. Class includes DPS written test. Cost is $150.00. You must be at least 14 years old to participate. Hey everyone! Our lady Eagles will be hosting another volleyball camp this year! Camp is open to girls going into grades 1-9 from June 4-7 (Monday-). The younger girls (grades 1-5) will be at camp in the morning from 9-11:30. The older girls (grades 6-9) will be at camp from 1:00 - 4:00. Camp will cost $50 and each girl will receive a t-shirt. Please have payment and form turned in by June 1. (Day of registration will be allowed. However, a camp t-shirt will not be promised.)

The Lady Eagles will be playing New Waverly for the Bi-District title on Thursday in New Waverly Tx at 6pm and will play the second game Friday at Robinson High School in Waco Texas at 7pm, with the third game following if needed! Let's Go Lady Eagles!!

We are very proud of our WHS Academic UIL students. We nearly tripled our number advancing to regionals this year. Congratulations to Hallee Hughes for advancing as a state alternate qualifier. We are very proud of all our students’ accomplishments and their improvement this year, and we cannot wait for next years UIL academic teams!

Congratulations to Penny Brackin for placing 3rd in the district UIL Lincoln Douglas Debate meet in Shelbyville. Penny will be competing at regionals on April 14 in Brenham!
Last Saturday Michael Cumo and Taylor Lewis auditioned for the School of Music at SFA. They were both admitted into the School of Music and made it into the Lumberjack Marching Band! Congratulations!
WHS has had 3 track athletes qualify for the Texas Relays in Austin, which is one of the most elite track meets in the nation. Congratulations to Tony Land, Zach Martin, and Claire Robinson!

Saturday March 17th, Woodville High School students gathered to participate in the Tyler County clean up. Students worked their way through the community cleaning up trash and giving fire hydrants a fresh new look. They enjoyed the great weather while painting a total of 31 fire hydrants and helping out our community!
UIL District Meet~Monday March 19 @ SFASU. The bus pulls out at 6:30am from the high school faculty parking lot. Dress is "UIL appropriate"
