Woodville Independent School District recently learned that a District employee has been arrested in connection with allegations arising from an underlying incident that was previously investigated and dismissed by the former District Attorney.
The District was not notified in advance that the matter had been reopened or that an arrest was anticipated. At this time, the District has not been informed that the renewed charges are based upon any new incident, allegation, or evidence. The District is seeking additional information from the appropriate authorities.
Consistent with District policy and applicable law, the employee has been placed on administrative leave while the criminal matter is pending. Administrative leave is a precautionary personnel action and should not be interpreted as a determination that the allegations are true.
The District respects the criminal justice process, including the employee’s right to the presumption of innocence. Because this is a pending criminal and personnel matter, the District cannot comment further regarding the allegations or the individual involved.
The safety and well-being of our students remain the District’s highest priority.
