AJ Martinez, UIL Assistant Athletic Director, reached out to the districts with the following statement:
"I wanted to let you know that the UIL received two separate Good Sportsmanship Reports from officials who worked your game on September 18th. Both reports recognized the outstanding conduct demonstrated by your student-athletes, coaching staffs, and programs throughout the contest.
The officials specifically noted the respect shown between teams, the positive atmosphere surrounding the game, and the professionalism displayed by both coaching staffs. In a highly competitive rivalry game, your programs exemplified what educational athletics should look like.
Thank you both for leading your programs from the front and setting the standard for your student-athletes. The culture you have built was evident on Friday night and did not go unnoticed. Most importantly, thank you for playing the Texas Way. Your leadership and commitment to sportsmanship reflect the very best of Texas high school football and the values the UIL strives to promote."
