Spring Band Concert
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s almost time for our second band concert of the year! Your students have been working on several songs for the past couple weeks and I am very proud of the progress that they are making.
Woodville is still under a mask mandate and are taking precautions to ensure the safety of your students and family. We will be giving out FOUR tickets per student that is in the band to hand out to family members. Only four people per student will be allowed to be physically present for the concert due to trying to limit the summit to 50% capacity. Every other row will be blocked off so that social distancing is in effect. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me via phone or email!
Concert:
Our Spring Concert will be on:
Tuesday, May 18th, 2021
The Summit Auditorium
6:30 PM
Call time: 5:30 PM with instruments/music in the band hall. We will walk down to the Summit together and get seated and warmed up.
Concert Dress: Concert Black
School dress code still applies! Please cover shoulders, chest, knees etc.
Females:
You may wear a black blouse with black dress pants. You may also wear a black dress but YOU MUST wear black leggings underneath if the dress is not mid-calf or floor length.
Black shoes are required (as long as they are black they are fine. I do not want you to have to buy new shoes unless you absolutely want to). If you have questions about what this may look like please call or email me!

Males:
You must wear a black dress shirt and black dress pants.
Black shoes are required (as long as they are black they are fine. I do not want you to have to buy new shoes unless you absolutely want to).If you have questions about what this may look like please call or email me!
Grading: Grading in band is primarily based on two areas: Participation (50%) and Concert Attendance (50%). Concerts are a required part of band. The student cannot miss it and pass this class. Please contact me immediately if there is an anticipated conflict with the concert.
Please encourage your family and friends to attend the Tuesday concert and support your student. The concert will be about an hour in length and will include the Woodville beginner band, 7/8th grade band, and High School band. I always encourage everyone to stay for the entirety of the concert to show support for the other groups as well as listen and see the growth of musicianship in just a few short years. However, it is not required that you stay for the entirety.
I am so proud of your students and how much we have accomplished so far this year and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for us!
Please reach out if you have any questions!

All incoming 7th graders will also need to get a physical. I will be doing height, weight and blood pressure with them as well. WISD is aware of the information released today at the Governor's press conference that will become effective next week. Over the next couple days, as more information becomes available to us on how this will effect schools, we will provide updates to students, parents and the community.

As a member of the Deep East Texas College and Career Alliance, WISD is proud to be part of Advance Together, an initiative of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas that promotes economic inclusion through cross-sector, collaborative leadership.
