Student of the Week for October 15-19th: When you think of the best of Woodville High School, you think of Carrington Merendes. Carrington is the perfect example of character, excellence and work ethic. Carrington has never let the fact that he is in a wheelchair slow him down for even a second, in fact, it is his motivator. He is always the first to volunteer for any tasks or jobs around him! He has represented our school in so much...Just a few to mention are the State Track Meet, on the Sidelines during Friday Night Football, years in the WHS band, he was a signal of hope during the bus crash years ago and most recently for his wheelchair basketball team. Carrington spends his time outside of school traveling around the country with the Memorial Herman Wheelchair Basketball Team out of Houston, where he has recently won a National Championship & was named MVP! Carrington just committed to play Wheelchair Basketball for the University of Texas in Arlington where he will receive a full ride! His character, drive and amazing personality motivates each of us daily! The list never ends. We are very proud to honor Senior Carrington Merendes as our Student of the Week. Carrington was nominated by Kerri Reagan

October 8-12, 2018 Jason Sowell has a cheerful, positive attitude & is always looking for ways to help others around campus! Recently when enrolling a new student, Jason introduced himself, engaged the student in conversation, then volunteered to show him around the school...all without being prompted. This is typical behavior for Jason but not all high school students. He is a positive light here at Woodville High School and we are so proud to honor his kindness and great attitude! Jason was nominated by Counselor Cindi Cooley.
